To promote oral health among the elderly, the Taipei and New Taipei areas provide denture subsidies for indigenous people and disadvantaged seniors aged 55 and above, with a maximum subsidy of up to 55,000 NTD. The subsidy in Taipei City covers removable dentures, fixed dentures, and repair costs, requiring medical screening and application to the Social Affairs Bureau. New Taipei City also offers similar subsidies, but prior application and specific eligibility conditions are necessary. The subsidy mainly includes the production and repair of removable and fixed dentures, with the subsidy amount varying depending on different circumstances and specific limits on the number of applications. Applicants must present relevant qualification proof to a medical institution for screening, and only after approval can they proceed with denture production.

In order to take care of the oral health of the elderly, denture subsidies are provided nationwide for senior citizens. The highest number of elderly persons is found in the Twin Cities area. Eligible indigenous persons and disadvantaged seniors aged 55 and above can enjoy the denture subsidies. This subsidy not only covers the installation of dentures but also includes the maintenance costs for removable dentures, with a maximum subsidy of 55,000 TWD.

In 2025, the denture subsidies in Taipei City can be divided into removable dentures, fixed dentures, and maintenance for removable dentures. Applicants must undergo an oral screening at a medical institution and be assessed by a dentist. They must apply in advance to the Social Affairs Bureau and can only manufacture dentures after receiving approval.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Low-income households aged 55 and above.
• Publicly funded residents aged 65 and above.
• Middle- and low-income households aged 55 and above.
• Recipients of the elderly living allowance aged 65 and above.
• Those receiving subsidized accommodation aged 65 and above.
• Recipients of living allowances for persons with disabilities aged 65 and above.
• Those receiving day care and residential care subsidies for persons with disabilities aged 65 and above.

Subsidy Items:

• Removable Dentures: The maximum subsidy amounts to 20,000 to 45,000 TWD, with the remaining cost borne by the individuals.
• Fixed Dentures: The maximum subsidy for low-income households and those in accommodation is 7,500 TWD per tooth; for middle- and low-income households and those with relevant allowances, it is 7,000 TWD per tooth.
• Maintenance for Removable Dentures: The annual maximum subsidy is 6,600 TWD, and those who have received subsidized installations cannot apply for maintenance costs within the warranty period.

Note: For the posterior teeth area, if there are more than three consecutive missing teeth, only removable dentures can be approved. The installation of removable and fixed dentures cannot be reapplied for the same tooth position within five years, and the maximum subsidy amount per person per year is 100,000 TWD.

Application Procedure:

• Applicants who meet the subsidy criteria must hold identification documents and proof of eligibility to proceed to a medical institution for an oral screening.
• The medical institution must submit documents to the relevant authorities for application. Only after approval from the Social Affairs Bureau can the manufacturing of dentures begin.
• Once the dentures are completed, the request for payment must be processed with the Social Affairs Bureau within one month.

The denture subsidy plan in New Taipei City for 2025 clearly stipulates that prior application is required; subsidies will not be granted for dentures that have already been made before application.

New Taipei City Subsidy Eligibility:

• Indigenous persons aged 55 and above or low-income households aged 60 and above residing in New Taipei City must be assessed by a doctor for the need for dentures.
• Indigenous persons aged 55 and above or elderly persons aged 65 and above residing in New Taipei City must simultaneously meet relevant low-income and living allowance conditions.
