The Speaker of Hualien County, Zhang Jun, recently expressed his support for the impeachment of Kuomintang Legislative Yuan Caucus Leader Fu Kun-chi, which marks a departure from the traditional stance he has held as part of the pan-blue camp for a long time. According to the results of an online poll titled "Do you support Hualien County Speaker's impeachment of Fu Kun-chi?" among the 13,885 participants, 77.9% expressed support, 20.4% did not support it, and the remaining 1.5% had no opinion.
In his post, Zhang Jun mentioned that many senior blue camp councilors have been forced to leave the Kuomintang due to Fu Kun-chi's improper suppression. He pointed out that since Fu Kun-chi took over as the Legislative Caucus Leader, the KMT's momentum has sharply declined, emphasizing that the KMT must sever ties with Fu Kun-chi to avoid further marginalization and distance from the people. He stated that in the face of the most challenging circumstances in history, many outstanding party-affiliated lawmakers are threatened by waves of impeachment, which causes concern among all party members.
Zhang Jun stressed that many KMT lawmakers are serious and professional in their political duties, and should not be the targets of impeachment. However, they have faced various slanders and attacks due to Fu Kun-chi's influence. He called for opposition within the party to the large-scale impeachment, but support for the impeachment of Fu Kun-chi, believing that only by cutting ties with him can the Legislative Yuan restore rational discussion and prevent the development of Hualien from stagnating.
