The non-partisan legislator Lin Yi-jun's office director, Meng Hsien-fa, was recently questioned by the police for illegal parking and got into an argument. Today, he announced his willingness to resign. Meng Hsien-fa explained on Facebook that he violated parking regulations while in a hurry during the tomb-sweeping period and had a dispute with the police. He expressed remorse over the incident and is willing to step down to show his apology. Lin Yi-jun's assistant confirmed that Meng Hsien-fa has submitted his resignation letter and stated that the matter will be addressed tomorrow. The non-partisan party also condemned Meng Hsien-fa's actions, stating that he has violated regulations and will report the matter to the party headquarters for further handling.

The director of the Hualien service office for the nonpartisan People’s Party, Meng Xianfa, was recently questioned by the police for illegal parking, which led to a dispute where he shouted at the police. Today, Meng Xianfa stated on Facebook that he is willing to resign. Lin Yijun’s assistant also confirmed this matter and stated that relevant actions will be taken tomorrow.

According to Meng Xianfa’s explanation on Facebook, "On the morning of the 4th at 8:50, I was on my way to a family tomb-sweeping ceremony when I had a verbal altercation with a police officer due to temporary illegal parking. After this incident was reported by the media, it created a negative impression in society. I feel very sorry for my behavior and have decided to resign from my position as the director of Lin Yijun’s service office in the Legislative Yuan to apologize to the public."

Lin Yijun's assistant, Jiang Yuechen, stated that Meng Xianfa has formally submitted his resignation letter. Since today is a holiday, the matter will be dealt with when they return to work tomorrow. Meng Xianfa feels very regretful about the recent illegal parking incident and is under significant pressure due to numerous media reports. He is currently reflecting on himself and deeply apologizes for the negative impression caused to society.

The People’s Party pointed out that Meng Xianfa's improper behavior towards the police has violated relevant regulations. The party headquarters has proactively submitted the case to the Review Committee and recommends that the committee deal with it severely and promptly.

The incident occurred on the morning of the 4th when a police officer patrolling Hualien City discovered a white car parked within the red line at a turn, affecting traffic, and proceeded to question it. Driver Meng Xianfa, upon learning that the police intended to issue a ticket, told them, "I am the assistant and director of a legislator," but the police still issued the ticket as required. After signing the citation, Meng Xianfa took the ticket and disregarded the police's explanation, resulting in a verbal altercation where he loudly complained, "I will call your director now," "Did I hit you?"
