The NCAA University of Connecticut today defeated the University of South Carolina 82 to 59 in the women's basketball championship game, winning the school’s 12th title in history. Guard Kaitlyn became the first player of Taiwanese descent to hoist the NCAA women's basketball championship trophy. In this game, Schaefer had an outstanding performance, contributing 24 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 assists. Although Kaitlyn only scored 2 points, she provided the team’s second-highest 4 assists, making an important contribution to the victory. Her parents are also immigrants from Taiwan and have continuously supported her basketball career. Kaitlyn thanked her parents for their support, stating that without them, today’s achievements would not have been possible.

Kaitlyn contributed 2 points and 4 assists in this game. It is worth mentioning that she previously attended the prestigious Princeton University, where she was named the Most Outstanding Player (MOP) of the Ivy League Championship three times. She transferred to the University of Connecticut this season and has helped the team achieve victories multiple times, ultimately realizing her championship dream.

What is even more special is that Kaitlyn, having both parents as immigrants from Taiwan, holds Taiwanese heritage, making her the first Taiwanese-American player to win the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship. In a recent media interview, Kaitlyn mentioned that her parents played a significant role in her basketball journey, even going as far as taking red-eye flights to support her in person while she competed. Kaitlyn expressed her gratitude to her parents, saying, "Without their support, I wouldn't be where I am today."
