The bodies recovered so far confirm that this is the most severe attack on Red Cross and Red Crescent personnel since 2017. The Israeli military stated that the fire was directed at "terrorists." A spokesperson for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies warned that if this situation continues, Palestinians will not be able to receive ambulance services anymore.

The president of the Palestine Red Crescent Society stated, "I heard the voice of one of the killed team members; his phone was found with his body, and the entire incident was recorded. Before he was shot, he last said, 'Mom, forgive me, I just want to help others, I want to save lives,' and then he was killed."

So far, 15 bodies have been recovered, and this incident has been deemed the most severe attack on Red Cross and Red Crescent personnel since 2017, when these medical personnel were on their way to provide first aid to victims of Israeli airstrikes. The Israeli military insists that they fired at a suspicious vehicle that was approaching; however, the footage clearly shows that the ambulance had its lights on and warning lights flashing while in motion.

A spokesperson for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies pointed out, "If this situation continues, in the future, there will be no ambulances for Palestinians to save lives." The United Nations also noted that in the past 18 months, at least 1,060 medical personnel have lost their lives in the conflict in Gaza. The vice president of the Palestine Red Crescent Society emphasized, "I believe that the scale of this crime should prompt the international community to take more action; this should not be accepted as just another recorded incident that will be forgotten in a few days."
