Hualien County Speaker Zhang Jun recently issued a statement supporting the recall of Kuomintang Legislative Yuan Party Caucus Leader Fu Kun-chi, declaring the era of major recalls. A poll quickly launched online showed extremely high support rates.
According to the online survey "Do you support Zhang Jun's initiative to recall Fu Kun-chi?", over 13,000 people have participated in voting so far, with 77.9% saying "support" and 20.4% saying "do not support", while the remaining 1.5% had no opinion.
Zhang Jun pointed out that he and several senior blue camp councilors have faced oppression and defamation since Fu Kun-chi took office, ultimately forcing them to leave the Kuomintang. Since Fu Kun-chi's assumption of office, the support for the Kuomintang has plummeted, and Zhang Jun believes the party must cut ties with Fu Kun-chi, or it will only grow further apart from the public.
He also emphasized that the Kuomintang is currently facing unprecedented challenges, and many excellent legislators are suffering unfair attacks because of Fu Kun-chi's chaotic situation, which should not be a reason for them to be recalled.
Zhang Jun stated: "We oppose major recalls, but recalling Fu Kun-chi is a necessary step. Only by cutting ties with Fu Kun-chi can the legislature restore rational negotiation; otherwise, the legislature will be unable to operate smoothly, and Hualien will stagnate as a result."
