The police apprehended a man surnamed Zhang, who initially determined that the air gun he possessed could not cause harm. Zhang stated that he was acting to avenge a friend who had been beaten. After interrogation, the police transferred him to the Taichung District Court for penalties based on the Social Order Maintenance Act. The chairman of Zhenlan Temple expressed yesterday afternoon that Mazu's outing is a good thing and hopes everyone can coexist peacefully, calling on people not to "do that (fight)" and indicating that any conflict could "harm me."

On the evening of the 4th, around 11 PM, when Dajia Mazu just departed from the temple heading to Cha Yi Fengtian Temple for the pilgrimage, a man in white "intruded" into the formation and had a verbal altercation with the members of Zhenlan Temple's Maitreya group, even throwing punches and smashing helmets. Dajia police stated that they would track down the man in white, while the Maitreya group member who was assaulted expressed unwillingness to pursue legal responsibility. The police reviewed relevant surveillance footage and discovered that another man was suspected of brandishing a firearm to intimidate. After investigation, the police apprehended this man surnamed Zhang, seized an air gun, and transferred him for penalties under the Social Order Maintenance Act.

Late the night before yesterday, as the Dajia Mazu pilgrimage team entered Changhua, a suspected drunk man attempted to snatch an umbrella on the Zijiang Road, but was beaten by two men. The Changhua police subdued the two on the spot and took them to the police station for processing. Early yesterday morning, the Dajia Mazu team finally passed through the Minsheng Underpass around 1 AM. This underpass had been regarded as a "first-level war zone," frequently experiencing conflicts among those vying for the palanquin. Before the pilgrimage activities, Yan Qingbiao had requested local officials to assist in ensuring a smooth pilgrimage. In recent years, the Changhua police have strengthened security measures and this year set up horse stoppers on-site to clear the roads, allowing the Mazu pilgrimage team to successfully pass through the underpass in less than five minutes.
