Chunghwa Telecom showcased several AI applications at the Smart City Expo, including the use of AI technology to detect illegal vehicles and monitor environmental noise, demonstrating its strength in the AI field and its commitment to promoting the "AI Smart Island" policy.

In order to seize the potential of artificial intelligence applications, Chunghwa Telecom, with a market value of over one trillion, has decided to actively develop AI business opportunities. Our investigation shows that Chunghwa Telecom focuses on meeting the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises, providing comprehensive AI services, and upgrading its data centers to AI Computing Power Centers (AIDC). The first computer room is expected to be operational in the second quarter in Yongkang, Tainan, while integrating generative AI applications from Chunghwa Telecom Research Institute. "This facility, known as the 'Technology Shaolin Temple,' is of high value and incomparable to peers," said Chairman Jian Zhicheng. In late March, at the Smart City Exhibition held in Nangang, numerous companies showcased their innovative technologies, with slogans related to AI applications visible everywhere at the booths. At Chunghwa Telecom's booth, the Qing Dynasty Emperor Qianlong transformed into an AI tour guide, attracting the attention of the audience. On another front, through AI imaging technology, it can track violators while capturing garbage and noise on the streets, which is exactly the various application scenarios mentioned by Chairman Jian Zhicheng regarding "AI for all, AI applications reshaping various industries."

Even before the Smart City Exhibition, Chunghwa Telecom held a Technology Day to showcase its AI models for management and customer service along with five major applications. Our investigation indicates that with the rise of the AI trend, Chunghwa Telecom, as an industry leader, has decided to integrate resources in accordance with the government's promoted "AI Smart Island" policy, actively vying for AI computing power wealth through two routes. "On one hand, we will upgrade the data center (IDC) to a computing center (AIDC) and integrate public cloud data storage and computing power leasing, with Chunghwa Telecom Research Institute investing in interdisciplinary generative AI applications," shared Chairman Jian Zhicheng about his plans.
