Chunghwa Telecom actively responds to the "AI Smart Island" policy, leading the telecommunications industry in seizing AI business opportunities, with an IDC market share of up to 70%. General Manager Lin Rongci stated that the upgraded IDC will meet customer AI needs and support the government and various sectors in uploading data. Chairman Jian Zhicheng plans to promote a "Technology Shaolin Temple" research institute to provide a full range of services for AI applications, and the developed AI models have already entered multiple industries. Chunghwa Telecom will also strengthen cooperation with NVIDIA, emphasize the acquisition of AI chips, and utilize full optical network technology to improve energy efficiency in response to the power demands of computing centers.

In response to the national policy of "AI Smart Island," Chunghwa Telecom has taken the lead in the telecommunications industry to seize the opportunities of a comprehensive AI solution. According to data, Chunghwa Telecom's IDC (Data Center) business holds a market share of up to 70% in the domestic market, clearly ahead of other competitors. The general manager of Chunghwa Telecom further pointed out that "with the upgrade of traditional IDC, we can quickly meet customers' demands in AI (Artificial Intelligence). Moreover, under the government's declaration to develop sovereign AI, various industries can upload data through Chunghwa Telecom's services."

Chunghwa Telecom is not only gradually upgrading IDC to AIDC (Computing Center) to provide the computing power needed by enterprises, but the chairman is also preparing to leverage Chunghwa Telecom's advantageous resources, allowing the research institute, known as the "Technology Shaolin Temple," to provide comprehensive services for AI applications. "The technical strength of this 'Technology Shaolin Temple' is unmatched by competitors," the chairman confidently stated. It is understood that the AI models developed by Chunghwa Telecom's research institute have been successfully applied in government, finance, and manufacturing sectors, with "the future focus being on further expanding AIDC clients."

However, to seize more opportunities in the AI computing power market, the chairman clearly recognizes the importance of acquiring AI chips. He revealed that Chunghwa Telecom will actively engage in deep cooperation with leaders in the AI field and seize NVIDIA's investment opportunities in Taiwan. In addition, Taiwan faces another major challenge regarding power supply. A technology expert frankly stated, "The computing center itself is a huge consumer of electricity." With multiple IDC centers, Chunghwa Telecom is at an advantage in this regard. "We will seek solutions to reduce energy consumption and heat dissipation through the technology of the research institute, and use all-optical network technology to enhance energy efficiency. This will connect high-speed fiber networks through decentralized data centers, effectively utilizing local electricity and avoiding excessive concentration of power in a single location."
