The Chinese women's football team was originally scheduled to have a friendly match against New Zealand on April 8 at the Kaohsiung Nanzi Soccer Stadium. However, due to safety issues with the venue, the New Zealand team refused to participate after arriving in Taiwan. Despite efforts from the venue management to make improvements during the holiday, the standards were ultimately not met. Former Football Association Deputy Secretary-General Jiao Jiahong expressed strong dissatisfaction, deeming this a "national disgrace." The Taiwan Football Association expressed regret and apologized for the cancellation of the event, stating that they would fully refund the tickets to fans who had already purchased them and promised to improve event and venue management in the future.

The Chinese women's soccer team was scheduled to compete against New Zealand in the "2025 Chinese Women's International Football Invitation Tournament" at the Kaohsiung Nanzi Football Field on the evening of April 8. However, due to safety issues with the venue, the New Zealand team refused to participate. Despite the venue management's efforts to reinforce the field during the Qingming holiday, they ultimately could not gain New Zealand's approval.

The former deputy secretary-general of the Chinese Football Association and the current deputy director of a legislative office expressed strong dissatisfaction with this incident, criticizing it as a "national disgrace." With the 2025 Asian Cup qualifiers set to be held in Indonesia this June and the EAFF E-1 East Asian Cup women's finals taking place in South Korea in July, the Chinese women's soccer team hopes to prepare well through this invitation tournament.

After arriving, the New Zealand team conducted multiple inspections of the venue and suggested measures such as repaving the grass. Although the venue management increased manpower to expedite work, the decision was ultimately made to cancel the match due to the venue's safety standards not being met. Jiao Jiahong expressed disappointment over this outcome on social media, stating that it is a significant blow to both the fans and the development of soccer in Taiwan.

Regarding the cancellation of the event, the Taiwan Football Association expressed regret and apologized to the fans. It is reported that currently, only the Taipei Athletic Field and Kaohsiung National Stadium meet international event standards, but due to other scheduled activities, they could not provide venue usage. The association has issued full refunds to fans who purchased tickets and emphasized the commitment to continuously improve event organization and venue management mechanisms to ensure a more stable and high-quality viewing experience in the future.
