Chunghwa Telecom Chairman Jian Zhi-Cheng announced that the company will establish its first AI computing center in Tainan, upgrading its data centers to provide a one-stop service for AI. Chunghwa Telecom is targeting the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises and plans to collaborate with research institutes to promote generative AI applications. At the Smart City Expo, several AI applications were showcased, emphasizing the concept of "AI for all" and committing to reshaping various industries.

Jian Zhicheng showcased the AI application capabilities of Chunghwa Telecom, planning to establish a computing center in Tainan. With the rapid growth of AI (artificial intelligence) applications, Chunghwa Telecom, whose market value has surpassed a trillion, is actively exploring AI business opportunities. Our investigation has found that Chunghwa Telecom is focusing on the future needs of small and medium enterprises and will provide comprehensive AI services, upgrading its data centers into AI computing centers (AIDC). The first server room is expected to be operational in the second quarter in Yongkang, Tainan, collaborating with the Chunghwa Telecom Research Institute to invest in generative AI applications across fields.

Jian Zhicheng stated, "The value of this 'Technology Shaolin Temple' is incomparable to peers (National Taiwan University, FarEasTone)." At the Smart City Expo held in Nangang, major companies were competing to showcase their products, with slogans related to AI applications found everywhere in the exhibition hall. Walking to Chunghwa Telecom's booth, the Qing Dynasty Emperor Qianlong transformed into an AI guide, paired with AI imaging technology that provides a street view perspective, capable of detecting illegal vehicles and even recognizing litter and noise on the road, which is precisely the application scenario Jian Zhicheng referred to as "AI for all, AI applications reshaping various industries."

The transformation and expansion plan of Chunghwa Telecom had already begun before the Smart City Expo. Recently, its Technology Day showcased AI models for management and customer service, along with five major applications. According to our investigation, in the face of the incoming wave of AI, as an industry pioneer, Chunghwa Telecom has decided to consolidate its resources and pursue two pathways to seize AI computing wealth. "On one hand, we will upgrade IDC (data centers) to AIDC (computing centers), integrating data storage and computing power leasing provided by public cloud services, with the Chunghwa Telecom Research Institute dedicated to cross-domain generative AI applications," Jian Zhicheng shared his future plans.
