Egypt collaborates with the Russian state-owned nuclear corporation Rosatom to construct its first nuclear power plant, located in Dabaa, Matrouh Province, at a cost of approximately 25 billion USD. The plan is to install the reactor vessel in November, with completion expected in 2030. When finished, it will become the largest nuclear power plant in the world, generating 37 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, meeting 10% of Egypt's energy needs. This project was launched in 2015 and is the largest collaboration project between Russia and Egypt.

Egypt is collaborating with the Russian state nuclear energy company to build the country's first nuclear power plant. It was recently announced that the reactor vessel will be installed in November, preparing to initiate operations at this nuclear facility, which, upon completion, will become the largest nuclear power plant in the world, producing 37 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.

Since 2015, Egypt and the Russian state nuclear energy company have started the construction of this power plant, with a budget of approximately $25 billion, funded by loans from the Russian side. This nuclear power plant is located in Dabaa, Matrouh Governorate, Egypt, covering an area of over 5 square kilometers, making it the largest cooperative project between the two countries since the Aswan Dam project and the largest construction project in Africa to date.

The Aswan Dam is located in southern Egypt, with a height of 111 meters and a width of 3.6 kilometers, primarily utilizing the waters of the Nile River for hydroelectric power generation and irrigation. This major project was built in the 1950s with the support of the Soviet Union for Egyptian President Nasser.

The general manager of the Russian state nuclear energy company recently stated to the media that the installation of the reactor vessel at the Dabaa nuclear power plant is planned for November. He emphasized that once the installation is complete, this construction can be transformed into an operational nuclear power plant. In October of last year, the management of the nuclear power plant announced the completion of the core catcher installation for the third generating unit.

He further confirmed that the operations of the four generating units are proceeding smoothly as planned, each with a capacity of 1200 megawatts. The Dabaa nuclear power plant is expected to be completed by 2030, when it will become the largest nuclear power plant in the world by geographical scale. Reports indicate that once completed, the power generated will reach up to 37 billion kilowatt-hours per year, sufficient to meet 10% of Egypt's energy needs.
