This year's competition incorporates AI image recognition technology, with fully upgraded rules. The registration deadline is April 16 at 4 p.m., and teams from across the country are welcome to participate. The competition includes control and mission challenge events, emphasizing programming and robot control, aiming to enhance students' technological literacy and practical skills. The winning teams will receive substantial prizes, encouraging students to continue striving in the field of technology.
The "2023 Annual Smart School Application Competition - Humanoid Robot Competition," organized by the Education Bureau of Taipei City Government, will be grandly held on June 28 (Saturday) and June 29 (Sunday) at Taipei Municipal Muzha Vocational High School. This year's competition combines AI image recognition technology with humanoid robot control, and the competition rules have been fully upgraded. Registration is open from now until April 16 (Wednesday) at 4 PM, and students from high schools and below across the country are welcome to actively form teams to register and participate.
With the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology, robots have been extensively researched in various fields including manufacturing, medical care, transportation, and disaster relief. The content and difficulty of the humanoid robot competition in Taipei City have been increasing year by year. It began with the "Robot Battle," which focused on control ability, testing students' operational stability and reaction speed; the subsequent "Task Challenge Competition" emphasized programming and logical thinking, where participants need to control robots to complete various tasks such as obstacle courses, ball throwing, and climbing stairs. As the competition tasks deepen, it is evident that the participants' robot design skills are becoming increasingly sophisticated. This year, the high school and vocational school category will introduce AI image recognition tasks, where robots will use color recognition to autonomously walk to the target area, demonstrating their smart computing and sensing capabilities; while the elementary school group, although not incorporating image recognition, will still require robots to cross three barriers with a height of 5 cm. Additionally, all participants must control the robots to complete tasks such as shooting basketballs, going up and down stairs, transporting spheres, and passing designated routes, which poses a significant challenge to students' programming and design skills.
To encourage widespread participation, there are three categories: elementary school, junior high school, and high school/vocational school. Each category includes task challenges and combat events, with awards for the top three teams and special prizes. Winning teams can receive gift vouchers worth up to NT$ 5,000, and those with outstanding overall performance can additionally receive a "Creator Technology Voucher" worth NT$ 6,000 to recognize students' contributions and creativity in the field of technology, encouraging them to continue improving.
Taipei City has long been committed to promoting technological education, actively encouraging students to participate in practical activities such as the FRC International Robotics Competition and the Humanoid Robot Challenge, guiding students to "learn by doing," and cultivating cross-domain integration and innovative application abilities. This competition will also deepen students' understanding and practice of core technologies such as "mechatronics" and "programming," enhancing the technological literacy and practical skills needed in the AI era.
The Education Bureau of Taipei City Government sincerely invites students from all public and private high schools and below across the country to actively register for the competition, inspiring potential and expanding horizons through technological competitions, and jointly cultivating the key talents for the future intelligent society!
