Currently, this technology is still in the early development stage, and whether it will be practically applied in the future remains to be seen.

According to patent information released on March 27, 2025, Google is developing a brand new wireless charging technology that embeds "charging coils" directly under the smartphone screen, enabling the function of "screens can also transmit electricity," and even allows for "screen to charge the phone" or "screen to charge headphones" wirelessly!

This patent is named "Wireless Charging Through a Display," with the application number 18294508. The patent describes Google's plan to hide the wireless charging coils beneath the device's screen, thereby achieving the innovative technology of transmitting power through the screen. Traditional wireless charging requires the smartphone's back to be placed directly against the charging pad, which is very inconvenient for screen operation.
