The number of casualties from the strong earthquake in Myanmar continues to rise. Meanwhile, as a country affected by the disaster, Thailand has initiated a fundraising campaign organized by local Tzu Chi volunteers. The heartbreaking images of the collapsed buildings have left a deep shadow in Thailand. The Thailand Audit Office building collapsed due to the earthquake, and local efforts are still ongoing to clean up the aftermath. In the face of even more severe casualties in Myanmar, local Tzu Chi volunteers have united to start a fundraising initiative.
Volunteers stated, "We have a donation box here; it doesn't matter how much you donate. 5 baht, 10 baht, 20 baht—whatever amount you are willing to give, we are very grateful."
A refugee from Cambodia, Sang Yuan, said, "We want to help and do something, but we are not wealthy; we are also refugees who have escaped. If there is anything we can do, we really want to help." This woman's eyes were red because she has friends who went missing in the building collapse. Upon hearing about the fundraising for Myanmar, she immediately came to give generously.
A participating student, Aigrat, mentioned, "(After the earthquake) I felt very shocked and worried, so I want to do my part to help everyone." People have shown the brilliance of humanity, sharing their compassion with one another, and the event conveyed care and warmth.
The homes and beliefs that were destroyed by the strong earthquake, through the collective efforts of various countries, hope to bring a glimmer of hope to the disaster-stricken areas in Myanmar.
