The Taiwan Football Association expressed regret over the situation and has offered full refunds to ticket purchasers, promising to improve future event arrangements and venue management.

Regarding this event, the former vice secretary-general of the Chinese Football Association and current deputy director of a legislative office expressed regret and criticized the incident as "national humiliation." The qualification matches for the 2025 Asian Cup will be held in Indonesia this June, while the EAFF E-1 East Asian Cup women's finals are set to take place in South Korea in July.

To prepare for the matches, the women's team initially planned to host this event at the Nanzi Football Field, marking their first international match at home in five years. Despite New Zealand conducting multiple checks and suggesting improvements to the venue after arriving in Taiwan, the match was ultimately canceled due to safety standards not being met.

Jiao Jiahong condemned the situation on social media, stating that inviting New Zealand, who qualified for the World Cup, to participate in a friendly match only to be refused due to venue issues is a significant disappointment for Taiwanese fans. Additionally, the Taiwan Football Association expressed regret and apologized to the fans, stating that they have opened full refunds for ticket holders.

It is reported that the only venues in the country that meet international competition standards are the Taipei Athletic Field and the Kaohsiung National Stadium, but these venues are unavailable for use during the invitation tournament due to prior bookings. The Football Association emphasized that it will continue to improve event organization and venue management in the future, and will discuss long-term maintenance strategies for natural grass with various teams, aiming to provide fans with a more stable viewing experience.
