A 26-year-old British nurse sought emergency medical treatment due to severe pain and discoloration in her leg, but was delayed in receiving treatment for 16 hours, ultimately losing a leg. After waking up from surgery and seeing her amputated calf, she felt devastated and subsequently resigned from her nursing job. The hospital admitted negligence, stating that timely surgery might have prevented the amputation. She has now adjusted to using a prosthetic limb and has met a partner, hoping to warn others through her experience.

Recently, a shocking incident occurred in the UK where a 26-year-old nurse experienced severe pain, numbness, and discoloration in her leg and urgently sought medical attention, only to have the hospital delay her treatment for 16 hours. As a result, when she woke up after surgery, she found that she had lost a leg.

This nurse, named 莫莉, went to the emergency room of a regional hospital in West Yorkshire at the age of 22 due to pain and abnormal symptoms in her left leg. The doctor suspected that she might have a dangerous deep vein thrombosis (DVT), but she had to wait 16 hours before surgery was arranged. When 莫莉 woke up and saw the amputation, she felt as if she were in a nightmare, unable to help but cry. She once led a wonderful life, running three times a week, but losing a leg made her feel that life had lost its meaning, and she eventually resigned from her job as a nurse after 18 days in the hospital.

The hospital's explanation was that even though DVT was suspected in 莫莉, the examinations carried out by the doctor were insufficient, leading to a delay in the surgery until the following afternoon. The hospital also acknowledged that if the surgery had been performed before 9 PM that night, the amputation might have been avoided, and frankly admitted that there was indeed a failure in care.

In response to this incident, 莫莉 sought compensation from the hospital through her lawyer to cover future physical therapy and prosthetic maintenance costs. Nearly five years later, 莫莉 has adapted to life with a prosthetic and is able to independently go up and down stairs, shop, and drive. In addition, she met her soulmate within a month after the surgery and entered into marriage. Although she has restarted her life, she hopes that by sharing her story, others will not have to endure the same suffering.
