The Kremlin's international economic envoy, Dmitriev, who is participating in the Russia-U.S. negotiations, stated today that Russia and the United States could potentially make contact again as early as next week. According to reports, Dmitriev mentioned during an interview with Russia's state television Channel One that the next contact between the two sides could happen "as early as next week."
Dmitriev visited Washington last week, making him the highest-ranking Russian official to visit the U.S. since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. According to what he told the media, he believes that bilateral relations are developing positively. However, he also mentioned that "there are undoubtedly still many enemies of Russia within the U.S. government."
Dmitriev has played an important role in the thawing of Russia-U.S. relations and participated in the first round of negotiations with U.S. officials in Saudi Arabia this February.
