Long Ying-tai recently published an op-ed in The New York Times, stating that "Taiwan's time is not much left," advocating for reconciliation between Taiwan and China, and accusing the Democratic Progressive Party of increasing tensions in the cross-strait relationship. In response, Taiwan's representative to Germany, Hsieh Chih-wei, criticized Long Ying-tai as unfair and questioned her credibility. He pointed out that Long Ying-tai is merely trying to internalize the Taiwan issue and emphasized that China's military threats are the real provocateurs. Hsieh Chih-wei recalled a question posed by Long Ying-tai 40 years ago and countered by asking why she has never commented on China's actions.

Former Minister of Culture Lung Ying-tai recently published an op-ed in the New York Times, stating that "Taiwan's time is running out," and claiming that Taiwan should "reconcile" with China, while also criticizing the Democratic Progressive Party for the degradation of cross-strait relations. In response, Taiwan's representative to Germany, Hsieh Chih-wei, expressed dissatisfaction on Facebook, pointing out that Lung Ying-tai seems to have forgotten her past stance and questioning why she does not speak out for China.

In his social media post on the 4th, Hsieh Chih-wei emphasized that Lung Ying-tai's key argument is not genuinely desiring reconciliation between Taiwan and China, but rather attempting to shift the responsibility for the tension in the Taiwan Strait onto the current president and disseminating false information to the international community. He believes that, in the face of China's military threats, defending freedom and democracy is merely an excuse for Taiwanese politicians, and that the real provocateur should be China, not Taiwan. Regarding Lung Ying-tai's remarks, Hsieh Chih-wei plainly stated, "For her to be anti-Taiwan like this, her future political career may be difficult to sustain."

Hsieh Chih-wei also mentioned that on the same day Lung Ying-tai's article was published in the New York Times, the European Parliament passed a report strongly condemning Chinese President Xi Jinping's military threats against Taiwan. Hsieh Chih-wei criticized Lung Ying-tai once again, stating that she wants to domesticize and de-internationalize the Taiwan issue without a fair assessment, showing no international credibility.
