The video shows that the ambulance used by the medical team was clearly marked, and the warning lights were activated. According to reports, a Palestinian medical team went missing on the 23rd of last month while carrying out a rescue mission in Rafah city, Gaza. A week later, 15 bodies were found, including 8 members of the medical team. The Israeli military initially claimed that soldiers fired at a "suspicious vehicle" that was unmarked and had no warning lights. However, the mobile video released by rescue teams yesterday (4/5) showed that the vehicle was indeed marked and the warning lights were on. In the video, the slain medical personnel apologizes to his mother with a choked voice before being attacked, stating, "I just wanted to save people."

According to multiple media reports, the incident occurred on the 23rd of last month, when a team of 9 paramedics from the Palestine Red Crescent Society went missing after executing a mission in Rafah. Subsequently, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) stated that 15 bodies were discovered, which had been collectively buried in Rafah. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs described these bodies as buried in a "mass grave", including 8 medical personnel, 6 civil defense members, and 1 UN staff member. Currently, one member of the medical team is still missing.

The report from the Palestine Red Crescent Society mentioned that one of the deceased medical personnel, Raed Wan, recorded a video lasting 6 minutes and 42 seconds on his mobile phone before the incident occurred. The video shows the medical team being forced to confront intense gunfire before the attack, repeatedly reciting the "Shahada". The Shahada is an important part of Islamic faith and is often recited for comfort before death.

It was revealed that the video also shows medical personnel crying out "Mama" in grief and praying to heaven. At this point, two men are seen talking, trying to assess the condition of the vehicle, when urgent gunfire is heard; the screen then turns black, but the sounds remain clear, reflecting the fear and helplessness of those present at that moment. The spokesperson of the incident pointed out that among the 6 recovered bodies of civil defense personnel, one had been beheaded, while the others showed gunshot wounds and signs of having been bound, indicating that they were executed while their identities were clearly discernible.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs responded by stating that these slain rescue workers were all dressed in professional uniforms and were responsible personnel. They also called on the Israeli government to investigate the incident and seek justice for the victims. The Israeli military stated that it would investigate the entire incident but reiterated that it did not acknowledge any executions.

According to UN statistics, since October 2023, 1,060 medical personnel have lost their lives in the conflict between Israel and Hamas. Additionally, Doctors Without Borders (MSF) recently reported that one of its medical personnel was killed in an airstrike in Gaza along with their family; this marks the second member of the organization to die in Gaza in two weeks.
