Zhang Jun, the long-time Speaker of Hualien County, who has been viewed as part of the pan-blue camp, recently issued a statement expressing his support for the recall of KMT Legislative Yuan caucus whip Fu Kuan-chi. An online poll initiated around the question "Hualien County Speaker supports the recall of Fu Kuan-chi, do you support it?" showed clear results.
As of 7 AM on the 7th, a survey by 《壹蘋新聞網》 indicated that among the 13,885 participants in the vote, 77.9% expressed support for the recall of Fu Kuan-chi, while only 20.4% stated they do not support it, and 1.5% had no opinion.
Zhang Jun mentioned that he and many senior blue camp councilors have been suppressed and defamed under Fu Kuan-chi's influence, ultimately being forced to leave the KMT. He pointed out that since Fu Kuan-chi took office, the KMT's momentum has drastically declined, believing that "the KMT must sever ties with Fu Kuan-chi to avoid marginalization and to bridge the growing distance with the people." Therefore, he decided to initiate the recall action.
He stated that the KMT is facing the most severe challenge in its history, and many outstanding party-affiliated legislators are also affected by the recall wave, leaving all party members feeling uneasy. Although many legislators in the KMT are hard-working and professional, they have been criticized and attacked because of Fu Kuan-chi's actions.
Zhang Jun emphasized, "We oppose the massive recalls but support the recall of Fu Kuan-chi. Only by severing ties with him can the legislature restore rational negotiation. If this tumor is not removed, the legislature will never find peace, and Hualien will also face stagnation."
