A woman’s Qingming tomb-sweeping ritual of burning paper money sparked a fire! The front of a Porsche was severely burned, and the repair costs amount to 680,000.
A woman in Shanghai accidentally ignited a trash can while burning paper money during the Qingming Festival to honor her ancestors, resulting in a fire that destroyed a neighbor's Porsche luxury car. That day, the woman dumped the still-burning ashes into the trash can, causing the flames to spread. Community residents and security quickly used fire extinguishers to put out the fire. Although there were no casualties, the luxury car's front end was damaged, requiring approximately 150,000 yuan for repairs. The parties involved are negotiating compensation with the car owner, and the community has set up a dedicated iron bucket for sacrificial offerings. Recently, incidents of fires caused by burning paper for rituals have become frequent.
Recently, in the Yangpu District of Shanghai, China, a woman accidentally ignited trash in a bin while burning paper money for ancestor worship, resulting in a fire that damaged a neighbor's Porsche.
Surveillance footage shows the woman burning paper for ancestor worship at the hallway entrance and then carelessly dumping the ashes into a roadside trash bin without checking if the ashes were completely extinguished. A few minutes later, the combustible materials caught fire, and the trash bin ignited.
Community residents and security quickly extinguished the fire using fire extinguishers. The property security team leader stated that three people used six fire extinguishers to bring the fire under control. It is reported that the woman conducts such rituals every month, but there is often no one to dissuade her immediately.
Although no injuries occurred in this incident, the Porsche parked next to the trash bin suffered severe damage to the front end.
The deputy political instructor at the fire rescue station pointed out that because the car is a luxury brand, the repair costs are around 150,000 RMB (about 680,000 TWD), so the woman may face significant compensation issues.
Currently, the party involved is negotiating compensation with the car owner, and the community has set up dedicated metal bins for residents to use for their worship rituals.
It is worth noting that the Qingming Festival is approaching, and incidents of fires caused by burning paper for worship have increased. For example, in the Chaoyang District of Beijing, a woman who burned paper for blessings without safety precautions triggered a fire that destroyed multiple vehicles, ultimately leading to her criminal detention.
