The police later arrested a 72-year-old homeowner, his 49-year-old son who is a court clerk, and a 62-year-old relative. Coincidentally, the body mentioned in the suicide note may possibly be the wife of this relative, who passed away five years ago. As for why the couple from Sakai City specifically referenced Shiga Prefecture, which is 120 kilometers away, it remains unknown.

The police revealed that the father and son involved in the case had sold their old house due to financial issues ten years ago and moved to Nagahama City in Shiga Prefecture. The suspect's wife had previously lived in Sakai City but later moved to Nagahama City to live with them; however, she passed away for unknown reasons, and a funeral was held at that time. The police currently speculate that this father and son might be suspected of abandoning the female corpse in the freezer, but since the body allegedly had been stored for some time, at least a week is needed for a judicial autopsy. They will investigate whether these four individuals had any disputes and confirm the true cause of death and identity of the female corpse.
