Recently, there was a clash in the Dajia Mazu pilgrimage procession, with some individuals even threatening others with an air gun. Police apprehended the man named Zhang and sent him to court under the Social Order Maintenance Act. The incident occurred shortly after the Dajia Mazu left the temple, when a man in white disrupted the procession and got into a verbal altercation with the members, causing a scene of chaos that raised concerns. Yan Qingbiao called on everyone to remain calm and hoped that the pilgrimage activities would proceed smoothly. The Changhua police are also enhancing security measures to ensure the safety of the procession as it passes through the Minsheng Underpass.

The Dajia Mazu palanquin and the pilgrimage procession passed through the Minsheng underpass, referred to as a "combat zone," early yesterday morning. Reports indicate that just two days into the Dajia Mazu pilgrimage activities, street clashes occurred, with even some brandishing firearms to threaten others. The Dajia police have apprehended a man with the surname Zhang, who was initially determined to be holding an air gun, which is non-lethal. The man stated that he was acting out in retaliation for a friend who had been beaten, and the police have transferred him to the Taichung District Court for violating the Social Order Maintenance Act.

The chairman of the Zhenlan Temple urged everyone to remain restrained and expressed that it is a good thing for Dajia Mazu to go out, as it should bring joy and blessings to everyone. The incident occurred around 11 PM on the 4th, when Dajia Mazu was about to proceed towards the Chiayi Feng Tian Temple for the pilgrimage. Suddenly, a man in a white shirt entered the procession and had a verbal altercation with members of the Zhenlan Temple Maitreya group and threw punches. The police stated they will pursue this man in white, while the attacked members of the Zhenlan Temple modestly expressed they do not wish to pursue legal action.

After reviewing related footage, police discovered another man was also suspected of brandishing a firearm to threaten others during the incident. Subsequently, they apprehended the man with the surname Zhang who was carrying a gun and confiscated an air gun, transferring him to the court for punishment under the Social Order Maintenance Act.

Late at night a few days ago, the Dajia Mazu pilgrimage team entered Changhua, and passed through the Changhua Minsheng underpass early yesterday morning. In the Ziqiang section of Changhua City, a drunken man allegedly tried to snatch an umbrella, resulting in two men beating him. The Changhua police immediately intervened, subduing the two men and taking them back to the police station for processing. By 1 AM, the Dajia Mazu procession successfully passed through the Minsheng underpass, an area previously regarded as a "combat zone" where conflicts over the palanquin often occur.

Before the pilgrimage event, Yan Qingbiao usually requests local leaders to assist in ensuring the smooth progress of the pilgrimage. In recent years, the Changhua police have increased their presence to maintain public order and this year even established barricades to clear the roads, allowing the Mazu procession to pass in under five minutes.
