Chairman of Chunghwa Telecom, Jian Zhicheng, announced that in response to the rapid growth of AI applications, the company plans to build its first AI computing power center in Tainan, upgrading its data center to focus on the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises. The center is expected to be operational in the second quarter and will incorporate generative AI technology from research institutes. Chunghwa Telecom showcased its AI applications at a recent smart city exhibition, emphasizing its "AI for all"理念, aimed at transforming various industries.

Jian Zhicheng showcases the AI application capabilities of Chunghwa Telecom, which will establish a computing power center in Tainan next. With the booming development of AI (artificial intelligence) applications, Chunghwa Telecom, valued over a trillion NT dollars, plans to aggressively enter the AI market. Our investigation shows that Chunghwa Telecom is targeting the future needs of small and medium-sized enterprises, providing comprehensive AI services, and upgrading its data centers into AI computing power centers (AIDC). The first server room is expected to be operational in the second quarter in Yongkang, Tainan, combining various efforts from the Chunghwa Telecom Research Institute in the field of generative AI applications. Jian Zhicheng stated, "The value of this 'Technological Shaolin Temple' cannot be compared to other peers."

At the smart city exhibition in late March, various companies showcased innovative technologies, and promotional slogans for AI applications were visible everywhere in the exhibition hall. When visitors approached Chunghwa Telecom's booth, the Qianlong Emperor from the Qing Dynasty transformed into an AI guide, utilizing street-level AI imaging technology that not only identifies illegal vehicles but also detects litter and noise on the roads, fully demonstrating the concept advocated by Chairman Jian Zhicheng: "AI for all, AI applications reshaping various industries."

Chunghwa Telecom's transformation and the expansion of its computing power began even before the smart city exhibition, during which a technology day was held to showcase its management and customer service AI models and various applications. According to the investigation, to keep pace with the AI trend, Chunghwa Telecom, as an industry leader, decided to integrate resources and aggressively seize the AI computing power market in two ways. On one hand, it is upgrading its IDC (data center) to AIDC (computing power center) while providing public cloud data storage and computing power rental; on the other hand, the Chunghwa Telecom Research Institute is actively engaged in research on the applications of generative AI.
