Last night, an incident occurred on Taiwan Railways involving a passenger clinging to a train. A man, after getting off at Nangang Station, panicked and jumped onto the connector of the Taroko Express when he failed to board the train in time. He clung to the train from Nangang Station to Qidu Station, ultimately collapsing onto the tracks due to exhaustion. The police stated that this behavior is illegal and that they will punish the man according to the law. They also reiterated that passengers should adhere to safety rules to ensure their own safety.

Last night (the 5th), a passenger hanging outside a train incident occurred on Taiwan Railway. A man took the Taroko Express train, got off to shop at Nangang Station, and, being unable to get back on in time, in a moment of desperation jumped onto the coupler outside the train and climbed from Nangang Station all the way to Qidu Station. Ultimately, due to exhaustion, he fell onto the tracks at Qidu Station. Fortunately, the man did not have any obvious external injuries, and the police will send him to the Railway Bureau for handling according to regulations.

This man chose to cling to the couplers between the 3rd and 4th carriages of the Taroko train when he missed the train at Nangang Station on the evening of the 5th. Taiwan Railway stated that this behavior has violated the Railway Act and they will request the Railway Police Bureau to impose a fine according to the law. According to Taiwan Railway's statistics, at 8:17 PM last night, the operator at Xizhi Station noticed a passenger suspected of clinging to the coupler between carriages while monitoring the passage of train no. 448, and immediately notified the train conductor to check and report to the control center operator.

Taiwan Railway stated that the control center immediately ordered the train to make a temporary stop at Qidu Station. After inspection by staff at Qidu Station and the Railway Police, it was confirmed that there was indeed a man on the tracks, who was subsequently pulled up to the platform and confirmed to be unharmed. The railway police will take him back for questioning to clarify the situation.

Taiwan Railway pointed out that due to this incident affecting train operations, the train temporarily stopped at Qidu Station and resumed departure at 8:26 PM, causing a delay of 5 minutes. Taiwan Railway emphasized that the passenger violated Article 57, Section 2 of the Railway Act, which prohibits pedestrians from entering the railway line, and Article 71, Section 1, Clause 1, which states "no climbing, jumping, or clinging to the train while it is in motion." The Railway Police Bureau will issue a citation according to regulations and forward it to the Ministry of Transportation Railway Bureau for a fine ranging from NT$1,500 to NT$7,500.

Taiwan Railway urges passengers to strictly adhere to the riding rules to avoid putting themselves and others in danger due to momentary negligence.
