A forty-two-year-old man drove his Jeep to the intertidal zone of the Da'an Sand Dunes in the Da'an District of Taichung City for fun yesterday noon, but he got stuck on the sandbar due to rising tides.
After receiving the report, firefighters and coast guard personnel quickly launched a rescue operation. The Taichung City Fire Bureau received the notification about a vehicle and person stranded in the intertidal zone of the Da'an District at twelve forty-five noon yesterday and immediately dispatched three vehicles and five personnel from the Da'an Fire Station to the scene, led by the team leader.
When the firefighters arrived at the scene, they found an SUV stranded about two hundred meters from the shore in the Da'an District's intertidal zone. At one seventeen PM, members of the Da'an Fire Station entered the seawater, which was about calf-deep, and successfully brought the stranded man back to shore. The man was alert, showed no obvious injuries or physical discomfort, and refused the suggestion to be taken to the hospital.
