Miaoli County's Houlung Town boasts the beautiful Cape Hope coastal highland. The county government’s Cultural Affairs Bureau is making every effort to secure funding to transform the coastal corridor between Cape Hope and Tongxiao Township's Baishatun Gongtian Temple into a tourist attraction, with a total budget exceeding 400 million NTD. This project will connect surrounding attractions through various sub-projects, such as Cape Paradise and the Guokang Tunnel, while integrating natural landscapes and cultural resources to enhance tourist appeal. Furthermore, plans are underway to improve transportation facilities and establish a green energy exhibition center, with the expectation of developing Cape Hope and its surrounding areas into a diverse recreational zone.
The Holoong Township in Miaoli County boasts the stunning Good Hope Cape coastal high platform attraction. The county government's Cultural and Tourism Bureau is working hard to secure funding, planning to transform the coastal corridor from Good Hope Cape to Tongxiao Township's Baishatun Gongtian Temple into a linear tourist destination.
This project has a total budget of over 400 million NTD, divided into five sub-projects, linking attractions such as Good Hope Cape, the Guokang Tunnel, and Cape Paradise with the Baishatun Mazu Cultural Park to create a diverse tourism belt that attracts more visitors.
Good Hope Cape in Holoong Township has a unique geography, facing the Taiwan Strait and offering a broad view. In recent years, the county government has been advocating for the inclusion of Zhunan Township and Holoong Township into a county-level coastal tourism specific area. Good Hope Cape is not only a unique tourist spot but also connects the nearby Guokang Tunnel and Cape Paradise, along with the ability to connect with Highway 41 to Qinghai Palace, Shanbian Mazu, and Tongxiao Township's Baishatun Gongtian Temple, forming a diverse tourism corridor that integrates natural landscapes, history, and religious culture.
Additionally, the county government's Cultural and Tourism Bureau is vying for nearly 300 million NTD in subsidies from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, combined with the funding self-raised by the county government, bringing the total budget to 405 million NTD. This aims to create the "Heart of the Sea Hill Baishatun Sacred Area" project.
The county government and Holoong Township Office are also actively proposing an improvement plan for the Good Hope Cape tourism facilities, which includes the widening plans for Highway 33 and Highway 41, as well as seeking to set up a green energy demonstration center from the Bureau of Energy of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, hoping to develop Good Hope Cape and its surrounding areas into a diverse recreational area.
The Cultural and Tourism Bureau plans to connect major attractions along the route within three years. These include the tourism improvement plan for the Good Hope Cape Heart of the Sea and the century-old Guokang Tunnel, the coastal important corridor tourism facility improvement plan from Baishatun to Good Hope Cape, the sustainable tourism promotion plan for Good Hope Hills, the tourism industry enhancement plan for Baishatun Mazu Cultural Park, the integrated marketing promotion plan for the seaside tourism corridor, and the digital tourism marketing plan for the smart travel future, comprising a total of five sub-projects.
