Deputy Mayor Su Junbin promised that general waste would no longer be accepted on-site, and monitoring and management would be strengthened. The council members are concerned that leachate may contaminate water sources and hope to establish a monitoring mechanism. The newly appointed Environmental Protection Bureau Director Yan Jilong stated that several measures have been initiated, such as the installation of infrared monitoring and the establishment of sector management. He added that the cause of the fires was due to mixed inspections of lithium batteries and high-pressure containers. In the future, waste will be accepted on the same night and cleared the next day, with plans to enhance resource recycling promotion.

A significant fire occurred again at the Hutoushan Kueki Landfill on February 4, with Kuomintang councilors criticizing that there is almost an annual occurrence of fires, demanding the public release of the fire investigation results and the provision of a concrete clearing plan and timeline. Councilors from the same party expressed concerns about the potential pollution of nearby water sources due to leachate infiltration, calling for the establishment of monitoring and remediation mechanisms to ensure environmental safety.

Independent councilors emphasized that the acrid smell caused by the fires is unbearable, and they believe that insufficient preparation work is the main reason for the accidents, calling for accountability for the fires. They, along with other councilors, indicated that resource recycling entirely relies on the moral conscience of citizens and urged the establishment of an incentive mechanism to reduce the risks of recycling sites, asserting that if the landfill no longer accepts general waste, it should be renamed as a recycling site.

Another Democratic Progressive Party councilor mentioned that the city government should strengthen communication with the local community while expressing gratitude for the hard work of firefighters. The newly appointed head of the Environmental Protection Bureau also apologized to citizens and introduced short-, medium-, and long-term plans, including zone management and enhanced infrared monitoring. He pointed out that this fire was caused by mixed lithium batteries and high-pressure containers and stated that no recyclables have been accepted since the fire; in principle, no new materials will be accepted unless the quantities are so large that they require transportation. Currently, the monitoring results of groundwater are normal, and the circular use of wastewater within the facility has been implemented to ensure that no wastewater escapes.

Furthermore, the head of the Environmental Protection Bureau mentioned that they will strengthen advocacy for resource recycling and sorting, such as trialing a safe recycling day every Tuesday and Friday to collect waste batteries and high-pressure containers to avoid the mixing of resources.
