The Donggang Fishing Association will inspect the fish today at 3 PM to check if it meets the "First Tuna" standards. On the same day, the fishing vessel "Quan Chang Long 168" from Su'ao, Yilan County, also caught a black tuna weighing about 200 kilograms, which is expected to become the "First Tuna of Nanfang'ao." The fishing association will conduct a fish inspection based on a series of criteria, and if it meets the standards, an auction will be held.

The fishing boat "Maofengxiang" from Donggang, Pingtung County, caught a male black tuna in the southeastern waters of Taiwan late at night on the 5th. The Donggang Fishermen's Association has arranged for a fish inspection at 3 PM on the 7th to check if it meets the standards of "First Tuna." Similarly, the Maofengxiang caught another male black tuna estimated to weigh about 210 kilograms in the southeastern waters of Taiwan on the 6th, which became a birthday surprise for the captain. The Donggang Fishermen's Association will conduct another fish inspection today at 3 PM to confirm if this fish meets the "First Tuna" criteria.

In addition, the fishing boat "Quanchanglong 168" from Su'ao, Yilan County, caught a black tuna weighing about 200 kilograms in offshore waters. If the inspection passes, it will mark the birth of this year's "First Tuna of Nanfang'ao." Last year's first tuna from Pingtung was sold at 10,300 NT dollars per kilogram, bringing the total to 3,103,000 NT dollars.

According to the announcement by the Pingtung County Government regarding the "2025 Pingtung Black Tuna Cultural Tourism Season," the auction of black tuna must meet several criteria, including that the fishing boat must be qualified for fishing, the fish must be North Pacific black tuna, the weight must be over 180 kilograms, and the fishing area must be the coastal waters of Taiwan.

The General Secretary of the Donggang Fishermen's Association stated that the captain of the Maofengxiang caught this black tuna on his birthday and referred to it as the best birthday gift. The fishing vessel is expected to return to Donggang around noon on the 7th. The specific weight of the fish has not been confirmed yet, as it still needs to be weighed at the auction.

The General Secretary of the Su'ao Fishermen's Association mentioned that the "Quanchanglong 168" fishing boat caught the black tuna around noon, in the waters at 25 degrees 4 minutes north latitude and 123 degrees 59 minutes east longitude, and is expected to arrive at Nanfang'ao Harbor for unloading fish at 3 AM this morning.

The captain of this fishing boat and five Indonesian crew members experienced two empty harvests after departing, but ultimately succeeded in catching on the return trip. The owner was excited, feeling anxious while waiting for news.
