The Tainan City Fire Bureau received the fire alarm at 8:13 PM, learning that a residential building on Zhongshan Road Section 1 in Guanmiao District was suspected to be on fire, and there may be people trapped inside. They promptly dispatched 11 various vehicles and 29 personnel to the scene for rescue. Upon arrival, they discovered no open flames but heavy smoke, and the trapped individuals had already been assisted out by volunteers.
Among the two individuals evacuated, one was an 80-year-old female and the other a 58-year-old male. After preliminary checks, firefighters learned that the woman had 2% to 3% second-degree burns on her waist and back, with soot particles in her nostrils and nasal hair, but she was still conscious; the man appeared to be experiencing difficulty breathing, likely due to smoke inhalation, with soot particles on his face, but he had no burns and his vital signs were stable. Both injured individuals were then transported to Chengda Hospital for treatment.
The Fire Bureau stated that the scene was a one-story brick building with a metal roof, and the area of the bedding that caught fire was about 1.5 square meters. The cause of the fire is still under further investigation.
