The relationship between U.S. President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, recently mended, is again strained due to differing opinions on the Big Beautiful Law. Despite claiming to regret their previous arguments, Musk has publicly criticized the Republican Party as the "Pigs' Party" and has proposed forming a new party to counter one-party rule.

In response to reporters asking about Musk, Trump stated, "It's nothing, he’s just unhappy about losing the electric vehicle mandate. He’s accepted that fact but still feels very frustrated. I can tell you he might lose more than just that." Musk argues that the new law will significantly increase national debt, undermining the efforts he made while overseeing government efficiency.

However, Trump believes Musk's true issue lies in the lack of pressure to mandate electric vehicle purchases. Trump challenged, "Not everyone wants an electric car; I certainly don’t. I can choose between gas, electric, or hybrid vehicles." A few months ago, Trump was in front of cameras happily viewing cars with Musk and buying a Tesla as support, now it feels like a distant memory.

Trump further suggested Musk should not complain about national debt as he allegedly leeches off the government, asserting that without federal subsidies, Musk’s electric vehicle and rocket business would have fizzled, and he would have returned to South Africa long ago. Trump stated, "The department of efficiency is a monster that could come back to bite Musk; isn't that scary? He's received a lot of subsidies."

Trump also expressed intentions to investigate how much funding Musk's companies have received from the government, to which Musk retorted that he would cut off funding immediately. Trump even hinted at the possibility of deporting Musk, saying, "Will Musk be deported? I don’t know, we’ll look into it."

Born in South Africa, Musk is a first-generation immigrant, and as disputes escalate from policy to personal identity, Tesla's stock value has been plummeting recently. This incident is garnering extensive media attention, and further developments are likely to unfold.
