On July 26, a significant recall vote will take place, with Kuomintang legislator Hsu Chiao-Hsin actively campaigning against the recall. She asserts that she is defending the Republic of China, representing the 'Blue Sky with a White Sun' emblem, and that she is not a pawn of the Chinese Communist Party as claimed by the Democratic Progressive Party and recall groups. In response to her anti-recall efforts, Dr. Shih Ching-Chung from National Taiwan University has publicly criticized Hsu's anti-recall advertisement, stating that her actions are merely an attempt to spend public money to inflate her political achievements while treating the general populace as fools.

Hsu Chiao-Hsin's Anti-Recall Advertisement

Dr. Shih posted a flyer regarding Hsu's anti-recall campaign, which claims, "If Hsu Chiao-Hsin is recalled, you will lose benefits worth more than a trillion dollars." He expressed that he needs some paper for folding containers for fish bones and spines during meals, thanking Hsu for providing the ad materials. He pointed out that distributing cash to all citizens at a rate of NT$10,000 would equate to NT$230 billion for 23 million people. Furthermore, according to reports, a domestically produced submarine costs between NT$30 billion and NT$40 billion, and that taxpayer money could instead construct six submarines or build a fleet of drones to enhance national defense. He expressed frustration with the actions of these legislators, accusing them of using public funds as political capital while regarding the public as naive.

Scholar Yeh Yao-Yuan also criticized Hsu's remarks, questioning what she is talking about and stating that failing to recall her would be a national disaster. He urges support for the recall campaign, claiming it needs to succeed.

This event has sparked widespread discussion, and Taiwan's society exhibits diverse opinions on the recall. How to make rational choices in future elections will be an issue worthy of attention.
