A man fell into an approximately 8-meter deep crevice in a glacier while walking in Saas-Fee, Switzerland, but his pet Chihuahua became his savior. According to Air Zermatt, a Swiss aerial rescue company, the incident occurred on July 5, when the man was walking on the glacier with his Chihuahua and suddenly stepped on a snow bridge that collapsed under him, causing him to plunge into the crevice and become trapped.

Fortunately, the Chihuahua remained at the edge of the crevice, faithfully waiting by his owner's side. The man carried an amateur radio that allowed him to send a distress signal. Nearby, a passerby picked up the radio transmission and alerted the rescue team, but they had difficulty pinpointing the man's exact location.

When the rescue team from Air Zermatt, along with experts from the Valais Mountain Rescue, arrived at the scene, they were faced with an expansive glacial terrain, making it nearly impossible to identify the crevice's opening. As the search progressed slowly, one of the rescue team members noticed movement on a rock — it was the Chihuahua, indicating the location where the man had fallen.

Quickly responding to the Chihuahua's position, the rescue workers successfully located the opening of the crevice and descended into the glacier. Throughout the rescue, the Chihuahua stayed by the rescuers, observing their every move. The man was eventually rescued, and both he and his Chihuahua were flown by helicopter to a hospital in Visp for treatment.

This incredible story highlights not only the dangers of glacier walking but also the profound emotional connection between pets and their owners. In a life-and-death situation, the loyal Chihuahua played a crucial role in helping authorities locate the man, demonstrating the importance of animals in crisis situations.
