At the recently held World Police and Fire Games in the United States, Taiwan’s representative team showed outstanding performance, securing a total of 164 medals, marking the best record in history. Among these were 74 gold medals, highlighting the strength and dedication of Taiwan’s firefighters and police personnel.

Huang Guanming, representing Pingtung County Fire Department, excelled in the men's badminton singles, ultimately clinching the gold medal. Not only did he perform well in singles, but he also made notable achievements in doubles. Huang's powerful play put his opponents under significant pressure, while New Taipei City's firefighter Chen Pengzhun also triumphed over his opponent to claim gold. The significance of the competition was further underscored by a Chinese contestant waving the five-star flag on the ring, showcasing the event's international significance.

The spotlight of this year's competition was not only on badminton and boxing but also on the Firefighting Challenge, where the Taiwan team bravely won the world championship in the team category. The swimming events also saw impressive performances, especially in the 50m breaststroke, where gold was secured.

Chen Hsin-hua from the Harbor Police Division of the Fire Department shared that there had been a gap of about six years since the last competition, and the participating firefighters felt quite nervous leading up to this third bout. “Achieving such a good outcome is certainly a relief,” he remarked.

Participants included firefighters and police officers from all over the island, teaming up to compete in the 21st World Police and Fire Games in the United States. After several days of intense competition, the teamwork enabled them to achieve such remarkable results.

The director of planning and development at the Fire Department's training center, Yu Hong-qi, noted that this year’s participation strategy was adjusted so that as long as selected personnel were willing and capable, they could represent their local fire departments in international competitions. The approach proved effective, allowing more individuals to compete and achieve impressive results.

The results of this competition indeed set a historical record, with the athletes scheduled to return on the 9th. The next games will be held in Australia in two years, and there are hopes that Taiwan's firefighting and police teams will continue to shine on international stages.

More reports are available on various sports events, including the Hangzhou Asian Games where Liu Chang-min and Lai Bo-wei are gearing up for the martial arts combinational events.
