Jia Ku Experimental High School held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new campus today (the 25th), covering an area of 8.5 hectares. The National Science Council has invested NT$2.29 billion for construction, which plans to include diverse facilities from kindergarten to high school, with an expected capacity of 1,573 students. The school has been selected as a diamond-level green building, and the first phase of the project is set to be completed in 2026. Su Zhen-Gang, Deputy Minister of the National Science Council, emphasized that the establishment of the school will aid in the development of the Chiayi Science Park, thanking the local government for their support and expressing hopes to attract more high-tech talent. County Mayor Weng Zhang-Liang also shared relevant experiences and predicted that school slots will be prioritized for local students. Since its establishment, Jia Ku Experimental High School has collaborated with several universities to offer specialized courses, promoting holistic education.

The construction of the new campus for Jiakou Experimental High School officially began today (the 25th), covering an area of 8.5 hectares. The school aligns with the overall development plan of the Chiayi Science Park, taking on the mission of retaining local talent and cultivating talent for the nation. The National Science Council has invested 2.29 billion TWD to promote this new campus construction project, with plans to create a diamond-level green building campus. The new facilities will include a kindergarten, elementary school, junior high school, high school, bilingual department, gym, library, dormitories, landscaping, and playgrounds, anticipated to accommodate 52 classes and an enrollment of 1,573 students. The first phase of the campus construction is expected to be completed in July 2026, with the entire regional plan set to be finished by 2028.

The Vice Chairman of the National Science and Technology Council stated that the establishment of Jiakou Experimental High School is a significant achievement supported by the National Science Council for the Chiayi Science Park. He emphasized the ongoing promotion of the development of both the Chiayi Science Park and Jiakou Experimental High School to facilitate the growth of the western technology corridor and the semiconductor and AI industries, aiming to realize Taiwan's vision of becoming a smart technology island. He particularly thanked the principal and his team for their commitment to nurturing students with technological and humanistic qualities, as well as expressing gratitude for the support from local government and the Ministry of Education, hoping that Jiakou Experimental High School will become an important talent cultivation base.

In sharing his experience visiting Kumamoto, Japan, the county magistrate pointed out that the local community benefited from the presence of TSMC, which stimulated overall development, and mentioned Vietnam's successful model of guiding community development through establishing schools. He expressed hope that with the support of the high-quality educational environment at Jiakou Experimental High School, more domestic and international high-tech talent will be attracted to Chiayi, providing continuous momentum for local development. The magistrate also referred to the successful experiences of other science parks, believing that the performance of schools in the district is significant and has successfully attracted considerable attention from students and parents. Due to the high demand for seats at Jiakou Experimental High School, it is expected that approximately 20% of the slots will be reserved for local students.

Since its establishment, Jiakou Experimental High School has formed strategic alliances with the Southern Branch of the National Palace Museum, Chang Gung Hospital, and several universities, offering unique courses such as "Art in the Southern Branch," semiconductor technology, AI applications, and smart healthcare, promoting a holistic education that integrates scientific innovation, humanistic quality, and international perspective.
