The Chinese internet influencer "亚亚在台湾" (Liu Zhenya) was stripped of his residency permit by the National Immigration Agency for promoting reunification through force, and he was required to leave the country by today (25th). In response, 亚亚 held a press conference this morning to protest, and the civic group "Taiwan International Family Assistance Association" also expressed support for him, believing that the administrative action violated international conventions.
Lawyers pointed out that "the rhetoric of reunification through force is considered illegal internationally." They mentioned that the revocation of the residency permit based on this rhetoric was merely in accordance with the basic requirements of administrative law. Additionally, a lawyer posted on social media stating, "The rhetoric of reunification through force is illegal internationally" and referenced the Taipei High Administrative Court's dismissal of the influencer's request, citing the human rights covenants that "prohibit the incitement of war," emphasizing that democratic and free countries like Germany also prohibit attacks on democratic freedoms, stating, "Because democracy does not allow anyone to attack democracy in the name of freedom of speech."
He further stated that if the dictatorial China were to launch a military invasion of Taiwan, our "free democratic constitutional order" would face an attack and might even be completely eradicated, "therefore, advocating for reunification through force is naturally illegal." He bluntly expressed that the revocation of the residency permit for those advocating reunification through force is merely the most basic act of lawful administration. Furthermore, he cited Article 18 of the German Basic Law, pointing out that "Anyone who abuses freedom of speech, including freedom of publication, freedom of academic discourse, freedom of assembly, freedom of association, and other fundamental rights, to attack the basic order of freedom and democracy should be stripped of such fundamental rights."
