The oil storage facility in Tehran, Iran, recently suffered an explosion due to Israeli airstrikes, with flames lighting up the bridge where crowds gathered on the morning of June 15. According to Reuters, Israel began a comprehensive bombing campaign against Iran starting Friday (June 13), which has seen retaliation from Iran, with both sides showing no signs of a ceasefire. However, President Trump stated on Sunday (June 15) that Israel and Iran would be able to achieve peace “soon.”

On his social media platform Truth Social, Trump wrote that Iran and Israel should reach an agreement and that they “will ultimately” achieve one, just as he once helped broker an agreement between India and Pakistan. He pointed out that he used trade as a tool to inject “reason” into the leaders of both warring nations, allowing them to make rational decisions to end the conflict.

Trump did not specify what tools might facilitate discussions between Israel and Iran but mentioned, “We will soon see peace between Israel and Iran! Many calls and meetings are taking place. I have done a lot of things without ever receiving any praise for them, but that’s okay; the people understand. Let’s make the Middle East great again!”

Earlier, Trump had stated he could “easily” mediate between the conflict of Israel and Iran, emphasizing that this was not initiated by Americans. Footage circulating on social media shows long lines of cars reportedly trying to leave Tehran, which aligns with data from Google.

On Sunday, Iran and Israel continued to exchange missile attacks, with explosions reported in cities on both sides. Videos circulating online showed traffic jams of vehicles trying to leave Tehran. As the situation escalates, citizens are anxious about their future, waiting for a glimmer of peace.

Israel’s air defense systems have also demonstrated significant defensive capabilities amidst the ongoing conflict. Reports indicate that Israel possesses a five-layer air defense system capable of intercepting over 90% of incoming attacks, including missiles traveling faster than the speed of sound. For three consecutive days, Israel and Iran have exchanged fire, complicating the security landscape in both the Asia-Pacific and Middle Eastern regions.

Trump's strong statements have also garnered broad attention from the international community, raising questions about whether countries will continue to monitor the tense relationship between Israel and Iran, and what role America will play moving forward. The future developments will be closely watched.
