The Taipei City Government’s Department of Finance Taxation Division announces that the license tax for private cars, motorcycles, and business vehicles will start being collected from April 1, with the payment deadline until April 30. If you have not received the payment notice, you can check and request a reissue on the local tax online declaration website or apply in person at the relevant branch of the Taxation Division. Citizens can use the automated service machines to log in with their documents to request a reissued payment notice and pay taxes using credit cards, mobile payments, and other methods. For tax amounts below 30,000 NTD, payments can also be made at convenience stores where a transaction receipt can be requested. To reduce carbon emissions, vehicle owners can apply for a combined payment notice, listing up to 5 license plate numbers. Electric vehicles are exempt from the license tax until December 31, without the need for an application.
The Taipei City Treasury Bureau's Taxation Division stated on the 25th that the usage tax for self-owned vehicles, motorcycles for the entire term, and business vehicles for the previous term will be collected starting from April 1st this year, with the payment deadline set for April 30th. If you have not received the payment notice or have accidentally lost it, you can visit the local tax online declaration operation website, select "Online Tax Query and Electronic Transmission Service," and input your "license plate number and uniform number" to conduct online inquiries and make payments. Alternatively, you can apply for a reissuance at one of the 12 branch offices of the Taxation Division or at the local vehicle supervision offices in Taipei City and Shilin. In addition, vehicle owners can verify their identity through the full-function tax automation service kiosks using their personal certificates/business certificates or registered health insurance cards, and log in to reissue the payment notice. When paying taxes, you can choose to complete the transaction using a credit card (signature-free for amounts under 3,000 TWD), mobile payment, or by scanning the three-part barcode on the Taipei Pass APP screen.
The Taipei City Taxation Division pointed out that to facilitate tax payment for the public, in addition to scanning the QR code on the tax bill (marked as "TWQR") for online payments, mobile payment and electronic payment methods can also be used to complete e-tax payments. For tax amounts below 30,000 TWD, people can go to convenience stores like Uni-President, FamilyMart, Hi-Life, and OK to make payments, where they can pay with cash, credit cards, or mobile payments. It is advised to ask the store clerk for a transaction receipt (small white slip) and to keep the payment receipt stamped by the convenience store secure.
The Taipei City Taxation Division further emphasized that in response to energy conservation and carbon reduction, vehicle owners can apply to consolidate the usage tax payment notices for vehicles within the same county or city; each payment notice can list up to 5 vehicle license plate numbers. Vehicle owners can visit the "Local Tax Online Declaration Operation Portal" and select "Usage Tax Consolidation Application" for online applications. Also, electric vehicles can be exempt from usage tax if registered within the deadline (by December 31), and electric vehicles registered in Taipei City do not require the public to submit a separate application.
