Vietnam's 175 Military Hospital Visits Taiwan for Elderly Care Training

In an effort to promote international medical exchange and deepen cooperation between Taiwan and Vietnam, the Kaohsiung Municipal Hsiao-Kang Hospital held an opening ceremony for the training program titled 'Vietnam 175 Military Hospital Nursing Team - Taiwan Elderly Care Training' on the 16th. The program officially kick-starts a nearly month-long training course focusing on elderly care.
This training initiative is organized by Hsiao-Kang Hospital in collaboration with several local long-term care institutions, with participants being members of the nursing team from Vietnam's 175 Military Hospital. The aim is to leverage Taiwan's rich experience in caregiving to assist Vietnam in cultivating professionals in geriatric healthcare and long-term care.
Notable guests at the opening ceremony included Chen Jian-Zhi, Chairman of the Board of Kaohsiung Medical University, Luo Xiang-Man, Special Assistant to the Long-term Care Group, Lin Yue-Ze, CEO of the Bozheng Long-term Care System, and Qiu Yu-En, CEO of the Linhai Long-term Care System, who collectively witnessed this significant moment in Taiwan-Vietnam cooperation on long-term care. During the event, Dr. Hsieh Wen-Chien, Director of Hsiao-Kang Hospital, shared insights on 'The Blueprint of Long-term Care Resources in the Kaohsiung Medical System and the Model of Taiwan's Care,' showcasing the strong foundation and innovative practices in smart care, dementia care, and swallowing rehabilitation.
Chen Jian-Zhi, Chairman of the Board of the Foundation of Kaohsiung Medical University, warmly welcomed the nursing team members from the 175 Military Hospital, expressing that their visit to Hsiao-Kang Hospital begins a meaningful journey of long-term care education. He particularly applauded Hsiao-Kang Hospital's high level of expertise and social engagement in the field of 'Swallowing Rehabilitation Care.' He emphasized that the 'Swallowing Rehabilitation Center' is not just a treatment center but also a microcosm of Taiwan's successful implementation of long-term care policies, exemplifying the Kaohsiung Medical System's commitment to community health and health equity.
Hsiao-Kang Hospital's President, Hong Zhi-Xing, pointed out that as Taiwan enters a super-aged society, it is our shared responsibility and mission to build a friendly, smart, and sustainable caregiving system. He believes that the training opportunity for the 175 Military Hospital team at Hsiao-Kang Hospital is not only a professional training session but also a beautiful moment for continuing the deep friendship between both sides. The training course spans one month, covering topics such as elderly disease care, palliative care, rehabilitation training, quality monitoring in long-term care, smart assistive devices applications, home care, and includes several field visits and exchanges. The course is designed to integrate theory and practice, with instruction provided by experts from the Kaohsiung Medical System and various other fields.
