A shocking shooting incident with suspected political motives occurred in Minnesota, USA, capturing widespread attention. According to reports, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announced today (14th) that the shooting resulted in the deaths of state representative Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark, while state senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette sustained multiple gunshot wounds but are reported to be in stable condition following surgery.

Governor Walz described the horrific incident as a "politically motivated assassination attempt" and expressed deep sorrow, stating, "This is a tragedy that words cannot express; Minnesota has lost a great leader, and I have lost a dear friend." The police received the first report of shots fired at approximately 2 a.m. local time, concerning the attack on Senator John Hoffman and his wife. About an hour and a half later, at approximately 3:35 a.m., another report led the police to the residence of Melissa Hortman, where they discovered her and her husband had unfortunately succumbed to their injuries.

Currently, local authorities and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are conducting a large-scale manhunt for the suspect, who remains at large. Although Senator Hoffman and his wife Yvette are recovering, Governor Walz remained vigilant, highlighting the incident as a "targeted act of political violence."

Governor Walz condemned the incident, asserting that the foundation of American democracy is peaceful dialogue. He warned that "differences in political views should never be resolved through violence or gunfire." He also revealed that the state government is working closely with federal agencies to conduct a comprehensive investigation, ensuring that the perpetrators are held accountable.

The White House responded swiftly, with President Donald Trump issuing a statement through White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt, expressing, "I have received briefings regarding the horrific shooting incident in Minnesota, which is clearly a deliberate attack on the state legislators.
