Taiwanese Tourists Face Car Accident in Vietnam, Agency Admits Driver Error

In the midst of the Southeast Asian travel boom, many Taiwanese tourists have chosen Vietnam as a holiday destination. However, a recent accident has left many in shock. A family of four from Taichung encountered an unfortunate car accident while on tour in Vietnam, and the travel agency has acknowledged driver error while negotiating compensation.
The incident occurred in Da Nang, Vietnam, where the family spent nearly 70,000 TWD for a five-day tour. During their journey, when the vehicle approached a significantly congested area, the driver insisted on continuing forward, which led to the vehicle failing to stop and sliding down a slope. Fortunately, a roadside barrier prevented the vehicle from falling into the valley below, averting a potential tragedy.
After the accident, the travel agency conceded that the driver was at fault and expressed willingness to compensate the affected tourists. Initially, the agency offered each passenger 1,000 TWD to calm their nerves, and subsequently raised the compensation amount to 10,000 TWD. However, both parties are still in negotiations.
Footage from the vehicle's interior also emerged, showing the bus precariously rocking on the hill, causing panic among the 25 passengers onboard. In terms of addressing subsequent medical needs or compensation, the local consumer protection officer stated that consumers could submit complaints or requests for mediation if they require medical advice or treatment after returning to Taiwan.
This incident has sparked significant public interest and debate, with many concerned citizens strongly urging the travel agency to enhance its requirements for driver operation and provide more professional safeguards for consumer rights to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
