Known as Japan's "most beautiful princess", Princess Kako has recently become a focal point in media discussions due to her international goodwill tour in Brazil. This visit, which celebrates the 130th anniversary of Japan-Brazil diplomatic relations, includes a tight schedule of activities across eight cities within a span of ten days, starting from June 4 and concluding on June 15. During her journey, a particular incident drew attention when a passenger on her flight captured a video of her sleeping.

According to reports, the agenda of Princess Kako's trip was packed. In addition to attending the 130th anniversary ceremony of Japan-Brazil relations, she met with Brazilian President Lula and engaged with the local Japanese-Brazilian community. Due to the busy ground transport situation, she opted to take a local flight, where the lack of on-board companions meant she was seated near regular tourists.

Overwhelmed by her continuous engagements, Princess Kako found herself feeling fatigued and unintentionally dozed off in her seat. Unfortunately, another passenger took the opportunity to film her while she slept, and the footage spread rapidly across social media, leading to an outcry among Japanese netizens.

Many individuals expressed their dismay on social media, criticizing the situation and questioning, "How could a foreign guest be allowed to be photographed like this? What was the Brazilian government's security thinking?" Some commenters expressed sympathy for the princess, lamenting her predicament. Conversely, reports from foreign media referred to her appearance as "gorgeous" and "doll-like", showcasing a more positive narrative.

Journalists such as Shuuichi Kanda pointed out that Brazil has a historical bond with Japan and a warm regard for Japanese nationals, which may have prompted such spontaneous photographing. However, he noted that for those in charge of security, this incident likely raised concerns about vulnerability.

This was not the first time Princess Kako's sleeping 모습 has been reported. A royal journalist recalled an instance in 2015 when the young princess was seen resting her head on a train seat during a journey aboard the Shinkansen, which attracted the gaze of fellow passengers. This ongoing perception of her approachability may be a contributing factor to her ongoing popularity.

Beyond the controversy surrounding the video, public opinion is also expressing concern over the density of Princess Kako's itinerary. According to the Imperial Household Agency records, she managed a staggering 134 public engagements last year, raising alarms regarding the potential physical and mental toll of such a rigorous schedule on her well-being.
