During the visit of Polish parliamentarians to Taiwan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Wu held a luncheon on the 1st, engaging in comprehensive discussions with members of the Polish National Assembly's 'Taiwan-Poland Parliamentary Group'. The visiting delegation included Łukasz Horbatowski, Marek Chmielewski, and Iwona Krawczyk. During this meeting, they discussed bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and cultural exchanges.

Minister Wu announced some exciting news during the luncheon, revealing that Taiwan has agreed to allow the import of fresh Polish blueberries, marking an important step in agricultural trade between the two countries. He expressed hope that citizens of Taiwan and Poland will have the opportunity to enjoy each other's high-quality fruits and experience the 'sweet taste' of Taiwan-Poland relations. Furthermore, Taiwanese mangoes and guavas have also recently passed EU scrutiny and are set to enter the European market.

He further emphasized that Poland is a vital member of the EU with significant market potential. Reflecting on his previous visit to Poland leading an industry delegation, he noted the impressive economic growth witnessed there and remarked on Poland's recent economic diplomacy efforts which have identified Taiwan and Japan as key markets for expansion.

Minister Wu stressed that Poland serves as a crucial gateway for Taiwan's entry into the Eastern European market, and that both sides should continue strengthening their economic cooperation. He also pointed out Poland's advantages in talent and education, combined with Taiwan's advanced semiconductor technology, which provides a solid foundation for collaboration in the technology and education sectors.

As the global semiconductor industry continues to flourish, Poland, along with Germany and the Czech Republic, is gradually forming a 'European chip triangle', offering Taiwan opportunities to bolster the resilience of its semiconductor supply chain in Central and Eastern Europe. Minister Wu mentioned the plans to create a non-red supply chain through joint efforts to promote mutually beneficial outcomes.

Additionally, he noted that Taiwan and Poland share similar historical experiences and are well aware of the importance of unity in defending democratic values against authoritarian expansion. They must work together to create sustainable prosperity based on shared values.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement in the evening, reiterating the shared commitment to freedom and democracy between Taiwan and Poland and the ongoing efforts to promote cooperation across various sectors for sustainable prosperity and welfare for both peoples.

In gratitude, Horbatowski expressed his appreciation for the invitation, stating that this was his first visit to Taiwan and he was profoundly impressed by the nation's political and economic development. He noted that Poland, as a major exporter of agricultural products, is pleased to see Taiwan open its market to Polish blueberries and looks forward to further cooperation in agriculture and high-tech fields, enhancing the welfare of both nations' peoples.
