In the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, the Russian defense ministry has confirmed that Navy Vice Commander Mikhail Gudkov was killed during military operations on the 2nd of this month, at the age of just 42. Reports indicate that Gudkov was attacked by Ukrainian forces using missiles while carrying out operational duties at command headquarters.

Since the start of Russia's full-scale military invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, hostilities between the two nations have continued for nearly two years. Gudkov was appointed as Navy Vice Commander by President Putin in March of this year, responsible for overseeing naval coastal forces and the army, including the Marine Corps. He played a significant role in the war and became one of the highest-ranking officers to fall since the conflict began.
