The event "Taiwan Does Not Need a Dictator Memorial Hall" saw nearly a hundred family members of the 228 victims in attendance.
Today marks the 50th anniversary of Chiang Kai-shek's death. The 519 Action Group and the Koo Kuan-Min Foundation initiated the "Taiwan Does Not Need a Dictator Memorial Hall" campaign. Nearly a hundred political victims and their families went to the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, calling on the government to remove symbols of authoritarianism and accelerate transitional justice. During the event, the atmosphere remained fervent despite the light rain. Elderly victim Zhang Ze-zhou expressed the pain of the past White Terror and emphasized dissatisfaction with the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. The event proposed three recommendations, urging the government to address relevant issues as soon as possible and stated that the demands would be reiterated annually.
